The 90-ton elephantine colossus in Margate, New Jersey, was built of wood covered with a quarter of an acre of sheet tin. This is a view of some of that tin from inside one of the walls of the beast. It's estimated that a million individual pieces of wood were used to create Lucy Elephant's structural skeleton. |
